Happy summer!

Dear all,

Tomorrow is my last day working and I will be at the new Obygden Circus Festival in Sweden. Set in a an antique 1960s dance mecca, in the countryside and with a killer programme it's both child-friendly, accessible and avant-guard. It's not too late to join us, hope to see you there! To be clear we are not organising any part of Obygden, we are just very excited to go! We've had such a great spring this year and CS is thriving and growing. Thanks to The City of Lund Cultural Department for their unyielding support, to the Arts Council Sweden / Kulturrådet for awarding us operational support for 2023 as well as Restart grant to see the end of the pandemic off in style! Furthermore, we are grateful and excited to have partnered with The Swedish Arts Grants Committee to deliver their circus programme and the Region of Skåne, Riksteatern Lund, Riksteatern Skåne for supporting and collaborating with us to support the development of circus in and from Skåne. We thank Rigas Cirks and Giedre Putramentaite, Deputy Coordinator of Baltic Nordic Circus Network for the brilliant work we and the network make together. And of course none of the above would be happening without the brilliant work and enthusiasm of our members. I want to direct a special thank you to Nick Zelle, Madeleine Hoak, Tomás Vaclavek, Morgan Anderson, Jordana Greenblatt, Elena Stanciu, Nadine Johnson, Jason Dupree, Alise Bokaldere and Valentina Barone for your thoughts, ideas, and passion. To Fridamy Roth and Elsa Pakkasvirta from Lund Circus Open Training delivering the circus training at Stenkrossen. All of CS is not checking out for the summer. A team of members including Nick Zelle, Madeline Hoak, Jordana Greenblatt and Morgan Anderson will all be representing CS at Circostrada Global Crossings and MICC taking place in Montreal and NYC this July! They'll be posting on instagram about their adventures. This autumn's plan of events aren't all published but here is a list of things we know already you have to look forward to:

We will also be starting a new partnership working with the European Project The Sphere to produce a series of workshops for artists and producing 3 circus masterclasses and one youth masterclass at Stenkrossen and creating and launching a new publication with writings from members - more info and registration opens in August! If you're in need of summer reading I really recommend the first in a series of indepth interviews our new Communications and Content Manager Alise Bokaldere (formerly Communications Assistant) has made with member Madeline Hoak (US) Happy summer! Lina B. Frank on behalf of Cirkus Syd Board of Trustees.
