About the Event

Circus has been a part of the cultural fabric of Lithuania since before the restoration of the state in 1918. However for this seminar the focus will be on the 20th century and onwards, because from this point on we can more clearly see the impacts of circus and tracer its narrative.

During the presentation we will go on an enchanting journey, examining historical artefacts, archival documents, putting together a mosaic of the history of the Lithuanian Circus, as an integral part of the history of the European and World Circus.

We will examine the influence of sociopolitical processes on Circus art, its ups and downs, visions of the past, present and future.

Spreaker: Ieva Variakojytė-Reynshtrom. Presented with support from Lithuanian Council for Culture and Baltijos cirkas VšĮ.

Tickets for this event will be available here at Cirkus Syd's website soon. To register for updates and ticket release register intrest for this event.
