Cirkus Syd is a partner in ARTiculate Pedagogy Network (APN) which was formed out of the Baltic Nordic Circus Network (BNCN) pedagogy workgroup. The members had an ambition to extend the pedagogy and education collaborators within the region and include different collaborators from the circus education sector. In particular working with people who could not join BNCN because they were not part of an organisation, individuals.
In this mission we have found a core group of committed and energetic individuals who have taken up this opportunity and are driving it forwards. This is an open call for two people to undertake a job shadowing opportunity in another country.
IDEA:
Creating opportunities for teachers to travel between schools and countries to shadow other circus teachers delivering lessons, leading to a summit of circus teachers which will help create pathways forward for the whole region.
FOR WHO IS IT FOR?
Anyone who teaches circus. Priority to those based in Region of Skåne, Sweden.
WHY DO WE DO THIS?
Because circus falls outside of formal education and is often carried out by individuals working in small organisations there are few opportunities for continued professional development.
This initiative seeks to provide just such an opportunity for all teachers needing professional development by enabling circus teachers to shadow and learn from the teaching methods of others.
68% of our mapping respondents cited a need for more pedagogical training as the number one thing they were missing and wanted to acquire. Their concerns were extremely individual, each highlighting a different area of pedagogical practice.
By giving these teachers the opportunity to pick other teachers to shadow they can tailor their experience to give them the best chance of learning more about the area they feel lacking in.
We want to empower the sector to help itself learn, to teach its teachers what they wish to know. WHAT DO YOU GET / SPECIFICS: - You will travel to a Nordic circus school (outside of Sweden) - You will shadow and visit teachers at that school - 5 day trip including travel. - Bursary of 5000SEK for participating
