About the workshop, what to expect: 

Say Yes is a playful deep-dive into the creative methods and fictional worlds we return to again and again in our artistic work. In this workshop, we’ll guide the group through physical exploration, writing prompts, and improvisation—alongside the strange, fictional scenarios that shape our own process. Why invent imaginary cults, random slogans, or ridiculous realities? Because they help us make sense of our work—even if that “sense” is nonsense.

The rule is simple: say yes. To the idea, to the moment, to each other. Circus is our jumping-off point, but we’re not chasing tricks—we’re exploring performance as expression, curiosity, and surprise. Expect movement, laughter, fictional nonsense, and a touch of chaos. No prior experience is needed—just openness to play.

About Based on Kimberly: This workshop is led by Inka Pehkonen and Imogen Huzel, founders and artistic directors of Based on Kimberly. Both have worked in contemporary circus for over a decade, creating multiple shows, films, exhibitions, and even a book. Their vision: to uncompromisingly (and unpretentiously) push what circus can be, and to make things happen.
