About the Event
Fall into the world of Svalbard and witness a cinematic debut that questions the voyeurism of audience and performers alike.
Capturing the bodily force of Svalbard Co's unique performance and translating it for the screen PROTEST weaves its world from photography, live film, stock footage and audience iphone footage to intoxicating and intimate effect.
This film brings visceral performance back into our lives and homes, keeping us engaged and supporting the creative industries during this drought of collective experience.
Protest is a 1 hour film produced in response to Covid-19 lockdown and the closure of venues. It is an adaptation of “An Evening with Svalbard Company”, originally performed live at Dynamo Circus Festival in Odense. It was co-produced by Dynamo Workspace as a collaboration between performance art, live cinematography, immersive design, live music and mixed media.
Svalbard Company is a circus company that believes in multidisciplinary art and is composed of 4 international performers (Ben Smith (UK), Alexis Akrovatakis (GR), Tom Brand (DE), Santiago Ruiz Albalate (ES).

Kulturnatten Lund 2020
By acquiring a ticket you are granted access to watch the film PROTEST for the duration of the weekend (Sept 19th-20th) for Kulturnatten Lund 2020. Kulturnatten is a city festival produced by the City of Lund, Sweden who are producing a special digital version of the spectacle this year in light of the pandemic. As such there are different way to admittance. If you're in Skåne and in a normal year would have been attending this event live in Lund you are given a FREE ticket by Lunds kommun to watch the experience from your home (or place of choice). If you are anywhere else in the world you will need to purchase a donation priced ticket (2 options are provided for high and low donation). 50% of donations from tickets go to Svalbard Comapany directly to support the company through the covid crisis.
Once you have purchased a ticket you will be sent a confirmation. Then, 30mins before the screening-window starts (09:30am on the 19th of September) you will be sent the link to access the film. You then have til midnight the following day to watch it.
If you register after 9.30am on the 19th of September you will receive the link in the confirmation email.
Do help us spread the word about this event, but we ask you to show solidarity and tell your friends to get their own tickets.
We cant stop you sharing the link with others, but we ask you to respect the fact that the income from tickets go to the creators of this film who are part of a sector of artists struggling this year. We have set the price as low as possible as an incentive for individuals to get their own tickets.
