About the Event

Circus Thinkers Platform is a committed group who read, reflect and discuss contemporary circus based on literary stimuli chosen by the group itself driving the discussions forward - organised by Cirkus Syd.

Topics we tackle range from philosophical to scientific and have ranged from #metoo, the circus' economic mechanisms, the influence of neoliberalism on circus art, circuses in relation to porn and love, and environmental perspectives on circus art's artistic development.

On Tuesday 19th of October we will start discussing Homemade Academic Circus by Camilla Damkjaer. It's hard to say how many weeks it will take us to get though it, but the qualified guess is 6 -10 weeks.

It's online, we use a study circle/ kind of round table format of discussion and as such there is no previous knowledge needed, just an enthusiasm to discuss with other circus people. We use slack as a communication tool for the group.

To be clear you need to acquire the book yourself, if you ordered it and it does not arrive on time we can temporarily help you in order to not miss out on the start of the discussion series.

Please note that it is needed to be a CS member to attend events. Being a member costs around €10 per month for the months you hold membership. When you hold membership you can register for all events. For this event you need membership for October and November and if we continue into December, for December too. Read more in the shop.
