Hej! Welcome to Lund, Cirkus Syd and Stenkrossen, please would you introduce yourselves?
My name is Emma, I’m a circus artist based in Östersund, I work mainly with hula hoops and juggling and I’m here to work with the amazing Kathrin as my co-creator and “inside”-eye on my solo show and I’m really excited to have these two weeks together here.
I'm Kathryn also a circus artis and spoken word artist. I’m here to work on Emma's show together, in whatever way she needs me. I pick up the slack, in German we would say “anything that people forget or don’t want to do” to facilitate emmas creation.
Have you ever been to Lund before or is this your first time?
(Emma) Yes, I've been here before, I came for your festival New Horizons Summit, in December 2023. (Kathrin) Yes! I was here for the Southern Sweden Circus Festival, I absolutely loved it, I can recommend, it was great!
What is the project you will work on?
We are here to work on my solo show, says Emma. The working title is “perfect isn’t good enough” and it is an intimate show on the subject of perfectionism and how that effects every corner of your life and also how to manage with it, ways to go past it. A bit personal, but not all doom and gloom.
The plan is to work on new section in it. I have a 30 min version and the plan is to extend that with a new section and ideally if its 45 mins when its finished, but its also like I have dealt with burn out this year... so we will be working, but it is hard to set strict goals, because everything is subject to our form of the day and work without pushing passed and not go past capacity. Also, to get past procrastination that occurs because of perfectionism, tiny steps of progressing forward without having to present a complete finished work.
