We are just a few days away from the launch of our Southern Sweden Circus Festival, and are very excited that we will be joined by Marie-Andrée Robitaille bringing her performance to our stages and her insights to our Inspire Seminars.
About Marie-Andrée Robitaille:
Known for her multifaceted background in contemporary dance and circus performance, Robitaille epitomizes the essence of a modern-day artist. Her experience is further augmented by her tenure as the head of the bachelor program in circus at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) from 2009-2018. Currently, she's expanding her academic and artistic horizons as a doctoral candidate at SKH, emphasizing choreography and pushing boundaries through her innovative artistic research projects.
What you will see at the festival:
Marie-Andrée Robitaille, in partnership with CirkusPerspektiv, is set to captivate audiences with her profound performance, MULTIVERSE The last Human on Earth (is a circus artist) on September 10th from 13:00 – 17:30 at Malmö Live, Dag Hammarskjölds torg.
"MULTIVERSE" is more than just a performance; it's a meditative journey and an emblem of hope. Crafted with utmost care, heart, and brilliance, this piece offers a serene experience suitable for family members aged 8 and above. Envisioned as a harmonious blend of art and philosophy, it serves as an arena where fresh perspectives and ideas manifest.
Furthermore, Robitaille will be sharing insights at the Inspire Seminars. Titled Circus as practises of hope this seminar will unravel on Friday, September 8th, from 13:30 - 14:30 at Lunds Stadsbibliotek, Sankt Petri kyrkogata 6, 222 21 Lund. As humanity grapples with complex crises, Robitaille's seminar will ponder critical questions about the essence of circus artistry today, its evolving relevance, and its potential role in addressing broader existential challenges.
Given the disruptions faced by the performing arts since 2020, Robitaille's doctoral project, Circus as practises of hope draws intriguing parallels between vulnerability and virtuosity, human endeavours and the environment, perception modes and viewpoints, and movement and presence.
